this thursday i have the distinct pleasure of opening up for Suheir Hammad and Carolyn Forche, as they do a poetry reading at busboys and poets, 14th & v st nw, washington, dc. i am a huge fan of Suheir’s, so this is momentous for me. if you’re around the area, this is a FREE event on thurs. feb. 3rd at 6pm.
SUHEIR HAMMAD!
you can only imagine how nervous i am to have the honor of reading before these amazing women. i’m going to most likely read my Dear David poem.
on tuesday, feb. 1st, the beltway poetry slam is holding a women’s only slam to determine who will represent the dc area at the women of the world poetry slam this march in columbus, ohio. it’s only $5 and is going to be an amazing show. i will be there keeping score. come be a judge! it’s fun.
me, i am getting poetry’d out! there are so many events going on, it seems like i am back to five to six poetry events per week, which is just crazy. i should stay home and write more, but that’s not happening anytime soon.
hope to see you around at some of these events. every monday i’m hosting the open mic at bloombars. and check me out at everlasting life cafe on feb. 11th for this great event benefiting a youth arts program here in dc.
