new hosting gig

starting in the midsummer heat of dc’s july, i will be the new host of the tuesday open mic at busboys and poets on 14th & v st every 4th tuesday of the month.

so tuesday july 26th i start, and will be bringing daniel jose custodio to feature. he is real cool. check him out:

Daniel José Custódio is an award-winning slam poet who has performed at hundreds of universities and colleges. In 2009, Daniel and his slam troupe, Slam Nahuatl, won a national slam competition on Broadway’s Arias Theatre. He is author of two books of poetry, Rising to the Surface and Hooked. Most recently, Daniel was the recipient of Style Weekly’s Top 40 under 40 for his use of poetry as an instrument of social change. Daniel has also taught hundreds of inner-city youth via grants from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the YMCA. Daniel is a graduate of Hamilton College and received his M.B.A. at the Kellogg School of Management. Daniel currently resides in Church Hill with his wife, Allis, and daughter, Amaris.
