if you’re around the DC area, i hope to see you this saturday at 5pm at the downtown 5th & K Busboys and Poets where i am co-hosting the Youth Open Mic. it goes down every 3rd saturday of the month, same time, same place.

The region’s most diverse and talented teenage performers tackle the issues in a riveting musical production that will challenge, enlighten, unsettle and entertain as only the rawest of real-life stories can do.

May 7 at 7:30 p.m.
May 8 at 2* & 7:30 p.m.
May 9 at 2 p.m. & 6:00 p.m.

The rules among young people are simple:

When emotions are raw … “Keep it movin!”
When it’s time for action …  “Maintain the status quo!”
When faced with challenges … “Push past them!”

Those are the rules; it’s how things are done. You have the right to suffer in silence, to ignore the signs or completely shut down. But rules were meant to be broken, especially when it comes to your
